Psychological Assessment

Understanding how you

think, learn, and feel.

A psychological evaluation goes beyond a diagnosis. It's a detailed, personalized picture of how your mind works- your strengths, your challenges, and what you need to thrive.

At Seattle Counseling & Wellness, our evaluations are collaborative, thorough, and written in plain language you can actually use.

Ages 3 and up

Areas of Assessment

Our evaluations are comprehensive and individualized. Below are the areas Dr. Duffield assesses- many clients present with concerns that span several of these areas, and each evaluation is built around you.

What we evaluate:

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Comprehensive ASD evaluation drawing on clinical interview, observation, and gold-standard assessment tools. Particularly attuned to late-identified adults and women whose presentations were missed earlier in life.

Children 3+, Adolescents, Adults

Intellectual Disability

Thorough assessment of cognitive and adaptive functioning to understand strengths and areas of need. Results support planning for education, services, and daily life.

Children, Adolescents, Adults

Dementia & Cognitive Decline

Sensitive evaluation of memory, orientation, language, and executive function for older adults and families navigating cognitive change. Includes guidance on next steps and care planning.

Children, Adolescents, Adults

ADHD & Attention Concerns

Assessment of attention, executive function, impulse control, and hyperactivity across home, school, and work settings. Includes ruling out other conditions that can look like ADHD.

Children, Adolescents, Adults

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders

Specialized FASD evaluation using University of Washington diagnostic guidelines. Dr. Duffield has advanced training through UW's FASD Diagnostic & Prevention Network.

Children, Adolescents, Adults

Mood, Anxiety & Personality

Evaluation of complex emotional, behavioral, and personality patterns when the picture isn't clear. Helps distinguish diagnoses and clarify what kind of therapy or support would actually help.

Children, Adolescents, Adults

Learning Disorders

Evaluation of reading, writing, and math abilities to identify dyslexia, dyscalculia, and related learning differences. Results include specific school and workplace accommodation recommendations.

Children, Adolescents, Adults

Traumatic Brain Injury

Neuropsychological assessment following TBI to document cognitive impact on memory, attention, processing speed, and daily functioning. Supports return-to-work, school, and legal documentation.

Children, Adolescents, Adults

Differential Diagnosis

When symptoms fit more than one explanation, a targeted evaluation helps sort out what's actually driving them, whether that's ADHD vs. anxiety, autism vs. a learning difference, or depression vs. early cognitive decline. Getting the diagnosis right means treatment and support can hit the right target.

What to expect

The Evaluation Process:

Dr. Duffield takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach. The goal isn't simply to assign a diagnosis- it's to help you or your child genuinely understand how you think, learn, feel, and function.

Every evaluation is tailored. You'll receive a written report with clear findings and concrete recommendations you can bring to your school, employer, physician, or therapist.

Most evaluations are completed across two to three appointments, with a feedback session to review results together. You're encouraged to ask questions throughout.

A brief intake call to understand your concerns, confirm fit, and answer questions about the evaluation process and cost.
